Back again!

After a brief lull in the car photography, here is the much-bigger Dexter posing beside a fantastic old vehicle in Carrington. He's four now and starting school soon. Crazy how time flies...

Well, it's been nearly a year and a lot has changed, so I thought I'd better start posting some photos for my dad! I've got a few months to catch up on....

These cars were on display at Nottingham's Old Market Square this afternoon. They are Middlebridge Scimitars, which were originally hand-assembled at a plant in Beeston (area of Nottingham). More can be found for the Middlebridge enthusiasts, here.

We dressed up for 1940s weekend at Rufford

Classic camping - in Basford

Well, it's not a beauty, but at least it's classic. Some kind of Bedford van, kitted out for 1970s camping - still in action in Basford...

And Dexter in a pushchair! This was kindly passed on to us by a friend whose child had outgrown it - but Dex weighs 13kg now and the pushchair is really useful sometimes.

Strange vehicle in mainland Europe

This is a weird vehicle we saw in an old town in Spain, called Pals. Ottilie thought it looked like a lego car!

While we were away Dexter learned to say "hola", and enjoyed the swimming. Ottilie loved seeing Gaudi's buildings in Barcelona.

Snow hits Nottingham!

It's been snowy for a couple of weeks now - some of the schools closed but Ott's didn't. This is our street after a snowfall - lined with small UK cars. The snow pretty much melted overnight, so back to regular winter weather tomorrow.

I notice in Nottingham there seem to be a number of very dated campervans still in operation - I don't know why. Another weird Nottingham thing is that the Victorian terraces don't have back lanes, so everyone has to park on the street. Even in very middle-class areas this is the case. There is also worse driving than in the North - people turning without indicating, changing lanes badly etc. Parking on double yellow lines!

At the left of the image, where you can see two white gables with black timber detail, is our house that Jasper is renovating.

A Citroen in Forest Fields

Don't lean on that car Ott! Ottilie and her buddy inspect an old Citroen, with no information regarding its model or year available. Looked like one with the air suspension on the back wheels. Ott noticed that the back seat has a fold-down arm rest, which apparently she'd never seen before. Her friend read the writing on the back of the wing mirror (part number and kitemark).

What a beautiful car!

Post-script: Grandad says
" In 1957 I drove a DS finding it v.different- ex brake pedal just a nub on the floor, which activated brakes when pressed- and as you'd be used to a pedal moving down with pressure, you tended to stop the car with a jerk!  Much ahead of its time, with power everything and air springs which 'exhaled 'when parked- audible sigh... Sadly Citroen couldn't sell enough of its space age designs
so reverted to the same conventional designs as everyone else."
